Gautam Buddha International Airport serves 150 international flights a month

SATV Kathmandu, Dec.6: More than 150 international flights have been flown in a month at the Gautam Buddha International Airport located in Bhairahawa. It is the second international airport in the country. 

Around 5,000 people have taken airway from the airport in the month. 

According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, the general manager of Gautam Buddha International Airport, 4,771 passengers were served from November 3 to December 3. 

According to him, for one month, Fly Dubai has flown the most flights. But in terms of passengers, Jazeera Airways served the highest number of passengers 3,034 passengers in a month.

Likewise, 1,113 passengers landed in Bhairahawa from Fly Dubai and 19 flew from Fly Dubai to Dubai from Bhairahawa.

According to him, 2,238 passengers flew abroad from Bhairahawa in that month, while 2,533 passengers landed at Bhairahawa. The airport served as transit to 5,467 passengers. And, a total of 156 landed at the airport from Gautam Buddha International Airport. 

Thai AirAsia has served 447 passengers, while Qatar has served 93 and Nepal Airlines has served 39 passengers.

He said that rather than for recreation many opted to fly from a Gautam Buddha International Airport for abroad work. Of them, Kuwait is the destination of choice for many passengers.

On the other hand, studies have shown that budget airlines carry more passengers than full-service airlines.
